Frequently Asked Questions

How do I add a duck to my collection?

Tap the Add tab, then take a photo or choose one from your library. Quack Track automatically removes the background, and if the photo has location/date info attached, it fills those in — you can edit either before saving.

Why does my duck's background look off, or not removed at all?

Background removal uses on-device Neural Engine processing and needs a real iPhone or iPad — it's not available in some virtualized/simulator environments. On a real device, if a photo has a very busy or low-contrast background, removal may be less clean; the original photo is always kept as a fallback if processing fails.

What does "re-homing" a duck do?

If you give a duck away to another Jeep owner, tap "Re-homed" on that duck's detail screen. It moves to the "Spent time with" section instead of disappearing — your full history is preserved. Tap "Welcome Back" any time to move it back.

How does a duck get its personality?

Every duck is given one of 33 personalities at random the moment you add it, independent of where or when you found it. Some personalities are much harder to find than others. A duck's personality is permanent and never changes, and ducks you added before personalities arrived have been given one too.

Can I use my own photo as a Dash Shelf background?

Yes — in the Dash Shelf background picker, choose "Add Your Dash" to capture a landscape photo with the in-app camera, then drag the on-screen guides until the sample ducks line up with your real dashboard.

The app isn't finding my location or address for a duck.

Check that Location Services are enabled for Quack Track in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services. Without it, you can still type in a location manually when adding or editing a duck.
